Our mission is to create the best experience in mobile for sports fans. To do that, we think about every aspect of what makes someone a fan. How do fans consume information, how do they share it, and how do they express themselves as fans?

So far, we’ve tackled news consumption. Against the likes of Team Stream and SC Feed, we’ve done a great job of creating a simple-to-use and well-designed app that brings together sports news from the best sources and writers around the web. Because we are not a content creator like BR or ESPN, we are uniquely positioned to simply do what’s best for fans and to highlight the highest-quality overall news without bias.

TechCrunch has called RECAPP “addicting.” Chat Sports said “this sleek interface is one of the best I have ever seen for a sports app.”

We are proud of what we’ve built so far but we are not at all satisfied. There is so much more to being a sports fan that has not yet been captured in this digital world. We are incredibly passionate about figuring out how to build out features that seamlessly fit in to how fans connect, share, and express themselves as fans. We want to enhance the digital life of sports fans everywhere and we will work tirelessly until our vision of that future is realized.

Everything from our colors, to the logos, to the fonts (and font sizes) has been thoughtfully pieced together to create an app that pleases your eyes every time you open it.

Speed. Ease of Use. Nothing is more important to a person using his iPhone. That’s why we’ve constructed our infrastructure to give you one of the fastest loading apps out there. Also, the way we’ve structured the app to show you who you are following along with the most recent story makes RECAPP one of the most simple yet powerful experiences you’ll have in reading news.

3) Curated High-Quality Content

The internet is noisy. Everyone has a voice. It takes a lot of energy to filter out the noise and we don’t think you should have to. That’s why we try to feature only the best. This is probably the most common question we get asked when people learn about RECAPP so we’ll do our best to highlight the differences.

Think of RECAPP as a Hulu or an iTunes. You don’t go to all your favorite bands’ websites when you want to listen to their music. You use iTunes. And when you want to watch TV shows, you don’t go to the NBC website and then the ABC website. You go to Hulu.

Hulu and iTunes make your life easier by bringing all the music and shows you love together in one place. RECAPP does the same by bringing all the high-quality news about your favorite teams and sports together in one place.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of RECAPP today, free in the App Store. RECAPP is a sports news reader and the easiest way to follow all your favorite teams and sports in one place.

Our mission is to create the best possible experience for fans. In this first version of RECAPP, we’ve tried to make your life easier by 1) organizing the information you care about and 2) personalizing the content for you.

1) There are so many high-quality sources and writers out there. There’s also a lot of bad ones. We handpicked all the good ones and put them in the app. So instead of you bouncing around 10 sites to catch up on all the good news, you can find it all in RECAPP. We’ve tried to reduce the friction between you and the news you want to read.

2) Every sports fan is different. We all follow different teams and sports. But when you go to ESPN or SI, you see the same thing as everyone else. They cater to millions of people and not you. But RECAPP is personalized just for you. You’ll get the best news about the teams and sports you care about. It’s how sports fans were meant to get their news.

We’ve designed the app to be comprehensive in content but also, simple-to-use. Tap the plus symbol for teams or sports you want to follow, go to the homepage, and you’re ready to read.

RECAPP Beta Has Launched

On January 29, 2011, we launched beta for RECAPP. It took 9 months of hard work to get there but we finally got the app in users’ hands and so far, they’re loving it.

Given that this is our first real post, we wanted to share a little bit about ourselves and the app.

Who founded RECAPP?

David Chen founded RECAPP. He’s from Dallas and is a huge Mavs, Cornell, and NBA fan.

Tyler Smith and Chase Johnson are the technical co-founders/programming whizzes.

What is RECAPP and why did you found it?

RECAPP is a sports app for the iPhone. In this beginning phase of the company, we are primarily a sports news reader. In the future, our goal is to be the best sports app in the world. Sports fans deserve a great sports app and our mission is to deliver that to them.

I founded RECAPP because I wanted there to be an easier way for sports fans to access sports news about the teams and sports they care about. I was tired of bouncing around 10 sites trying to catch up on news. I realized that the way we consumed sports news hadn’t advanced like the rest of the tech world. With music, you had iTunes, which organized all your music in one place. You didn’t have to go to your favorite artists’ websites every time you wanted to hear their songs.

But that’s what you have to do when you want to read sports news. First, you go to ESPN to look for fresh news. Then, you go to SI to see what their writers wrote. Then you go to your local newspaper site to see what they’re saying about your team. It’s just not an efficient use of time.

With RECAPP, we created an easy-to-use app client that organizes sports news by the teams and sports that a user follows. We curated the best local sources for each team. We feature the best national sources and writers for each league and sport. All the user has to do is pick their favorite teams and sports and we provide all the news they want.

This is the way sports fans were meant to get their news.

Who is this app made for?

- People who want an easier way to stay in the loop about all their favorite teams and leagues

- People who are tired of bouncing around different sites to catch up on their teams

- People who think Google News is too cluttered with amateur writers and weak sources

- People who don’t know where to go to find news about teams they’re interested in

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a woman or a man, a casual fan or a hardcore fan. RECAPP is easy enough and in-depth enough to fulfill the needs of every kind of sports fan.

What makes RECAPP different than everyone else?

First and foremost, we are dedicated to making sports fans happy. We’re going to work our butts off to make something that fans really enjoy using. We’ve paid a lot of attention to detail in building this app from the fonts we’ve used to the sources we’ve left out. We’ve constructed this app with a focus on ‘quality over quantity’.

Second, we are different than major sites like ESPN and Yahoo! Sports. ESPN likes to highlight ESPN news. Sports Illustrated likes to highlight their own news. With RECAPP, we are highlighting ALL the best news. We are bringing together all the best sources and all the best writers in one place.
